PSP’s Perihelion 27 occurred on March 11, 2026, at about 18:17 UT. The perihelion was occurring with the spacecraft in near radial alignment with Earth on the Earth-facing solar hemisphere. The spacecraft projected footpoints crested the Eastern limb only hours before, at 03:00 - 04:00 UT on 3/11 at a heliocentric distance of 14 Rs. Moving fast across the solar disk, they crossed the Western limb on 3/13 at 23 Rs and remain within 10 deg from the limb for the next couple of days during the outbound phase. Footpoint daily predictions were issued daily from Tuesday, March 10 to Friday, March 13.
